Compost is a natural slow-release fertilizer and isn’t as harsh on your plants as a chemical fertilizer would be. The organic matter in compost stimulates healthy root development in plants and creates an excellent environment for soil microorganisms to do their work.
If you have areas of heavier clay type soils and then adding compost will help to improve the texture and air circulation of dense clay. The same applies to very sandy soils compost will increase the water retention of airy soils. Compost buffers the soil, neutralizing both acid & alkaline soils, balancing Nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus levels bringing pH levels to an ideal range for plants to thrive.
Mushroom compost is a type of slow-release, organic plant fertilizer. Mushrooms are grown in a mixture of natural products, including straw, hay and cottonseed hulls. Mushroom compost is what remains after the mushroom is harvested, which is an environmentally friendly organic compost for the garden. Organic Soil Conditioner
Organic soil conditioners comprise of composted organics and recycled green waste.
A peat-free soil conditioner that is high in organic matter and nutrients will enrich the soil, help retain moisture and decrease plant diseases and pests.
Soil conditioners are ideal if you are looking to encourages the growth of beneficial bacteria and fungi. We recommended an organic soil conditioner spread at 50mm and dug in at a depth of 100mm.
What is the difference between a soil conditioner and a fertilizer?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions. In short, fertilizers act as food for plants, they improve the health of the plant, increase crop yields and provide essential nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous to the plant. Soil Conditioners do not add nutrients to the soil but rather they improve the texture of the soil so that the plants have a favourable environment in which to establish themselves.

Budget Black Mulch
Our budget black mulch is a great choice to use if you need to suppress weeds or help with water retention. Its rich black colour creates aesthetically decorative beds. Our budget black mulch is a course grade organic mulch made from aged grinned tree matter blended with peat to give it the rich colour. This mulch is a cost-effective alternative to the popular sand grouper and Karri & Peat mulches.
Karri Peat Mulch
This is a great mulch for various applications because it is high in organic material.
The mixture of crushed Karri and peat makes it a heavy mulch which means it retains the water well, prevents evaporation and effectively controls the soil temperature.
A medium-coarse mulch made from recycled crushed, pasteurized green waste and peat. This mulch has superior water-saving properties and ideal for large areas that need to be covered, commercial developments or native garden beds where a darker mulch is desired.
Top Tip- if are wanting to save water apply your much generously. Mulch is well known for its water retention properties and ability to prevent evaporation. We recommend topping up your mulch annually and apply the mulch at least 75mm thick to achieve a true water-wise garden.
Loggers mulch is made from aged medium grind tree waste. this mulch is fully organic and is ideal for larger properties has great water holding properties and weed suppression properties.

Small bark chip

Small bark chips are a garden staple and suit almost every garden setting. This bark reduces weeds, breaks down gradually and protects against pests.
Large bark chip
Choosing between large and small size chips is largely a personal preference but most often large is chosen to use around shrubs, trees and perennial beds.
Top Tip- Large bark chips help to retain the moisture so be aware if you have areas that are prone to high water tables in winter, bark chip mulch can compound the problem by holding in excess moisture.
Jarrah woodchip is a popular wood chip because of its draining properties. Its larger chip size does not blow away in the wind and allows for good water penetration. This chip is a very attractive pink colour but will fade to a grey in time. Works well in landscaped gardens and feature pots.
Hardwood Chip is one of our most popular products used for commercial and domestic landscaping projects. This naturally brown Marri & Jarrah timber chip is ideal for gardens with fruit trees and sandy areas as the large chip won’t blow away in the wind as easily. Laid to a thick depth this chip helps to suppress weeds, regulates the soil temperature, retains water and adds nutrients to the soil as it breaks down.
Woodland Red (Dyed) Chip
This medium to course chip is produced from recycled timbers and dyed red. The colorants are highly resistant to UV and do not wash off in the rain. If you’re looking to create a feature then this bright red chip will leave every flower bed with an ambiance of sunsets and savannas.
